Lonna Joy Smoot earned a B.A. in Music Education from Utah State University and a M.M. in Vocal Performance from Brigham Young University.
Smoot’s operatic credits include; Despina in Così fan tutte, Concepcion in L’heure Espagnole, Zita in Gianni Schicchi, The Witch in Hänsel and Gretel, the Countess in Le Nozze de Figaro, Mimí in La Boheme, the First Lady in Die Zauberflöte, the Monitor in Suor Angelica, Gianetta in The Gondoliers, the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Gretel in Hänsel and Gretel. Smoot has appeared in productions of Otello, Three Hermits, I Pagliacci, and Carmen with Utah Opera.
Credits in music theater include; Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd, Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Miss Shingle in A Gentleman'sGuide to Love and Murder; Jack's Mom in Into the Woods; and Miss Hannigan in Annie as well as performances in The Wizard of Oz, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Once Upon a Mattress, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
